From Lovely Bones to Lovely Homes
February 9, 2010I am not quite sure if it’s just the aftereffect of reading Sebold’s Lovely Bones (I hope the motion picture interpretation of the book was as successful) or too much primetime news but one thing is for sure, I want a Home Security thingy installed and all the other “extras” that comes along with it. No! I am not a fan of the Big Brother House (with cameras capturing the way cringe when you pee) but am not also one who would want to experience what the family of Susie (the owner of the “lovely bones”) had. Of course it’s just a book, but reality bites you know (just check out New York Times’ headlines). (more…)
How an OC Trotter Finally Met Her Match
January 31, 2010When I travel, I want everything in order. I have an obsession for details and at the same time a passion for time. I want to be given an exact clear copy of my itinerary days before my actual travel date (not a fan of “getting lost adventures” and last minute planning). My life consists mainly of international flights so I am forever on the lookout for cheap flights (it pays to save or else, say goodbye to that one of a kind poncho in Mexico or that adorable turquoise earrings in Haiti).

The Dream Destination of the Wooden Airplane
December 19, 2009
I cannot help but smile as a look at a mother and her son in complete awe of the sky and some scattered cirrus clouds. The mother was eagerly pointing her finger at the images of what seemed like enormous elephants while her son (open-mouthed) is snuggling beside her to have a clear view. “Flying for the first time boy?” I asked. The lad gently nodded (eyes wide). I too, started reminiscing while looking at my crumpled airline ticket.

My Bag, My Companion, My Friend
December 8, 2009I am virtually a team member of the new breed of “global trotters”. Like them, I live to travel, to experience the richness of different cultures and traditions around the globe and to appreciate life in its raw form. I have been to a lot of places, traveled by plane, cruised on ships, rode “tricycles” and even had dinner on a floating restaurant. The one odd thing I learned about my travels is the importance of having a reliable luggage. It is in that “bag” where the comfort and the experience will come in. (more…)

The Confessions of a Bag Queen
November 13, 2009
My heart is beating faster than usual. Even my sweat glands are a bit agitated. NO, I’m not bound for the emergency room; I am actually in front of my computer, browsing my favorite website which showcases every single to die for bag on sale in every existing store in this planet called earth. It has become a secret hobby for me. I mean; to shop via the internet. It saves me a lot of foot spas and back rubs. Not to mention bumping into one or two of ex-boyfriends with their current flames flaunting ultra mini-skirts in complete contrast to plain old me in my pony tails. Got it? (more…)
Shopping for Your Baby Things
November 11, 2009![]()
The first time I laid my eyes on my firstborn was unforgettable. As soon as I saw her angelic face, I embraced the role of the humbling hands-on mom. I took charge of everything, from deciding whether to breastfeed or not, to choosing the best lightweight strollers and baby walkers. Though this part of shopping; I can say, is far from ordinary, since it involves the safety of my precious one. Shopping malls and even the internet are bursting with hundreds of baby products (baby strollers, booster seats, baby walkers, baby carriers, to name a few) that made me even more confused. (more…)
Spontaniety and Santa Monica
November 1, 2009There’s nothing better than having the opportunity to relax, and let go from the world and its stresses. As I lie down and sleep at night, sometimes I can’t seem to push out what thing I have to do tomorrow. I contemplate on my life and feel like a machine. Am I programmed to do this routine till the day I die? Karl Marx said it best when he said that we no longer work to live but now, we live to work. We are all in the same boat here and its drifting in that particular way. The only way to move away from it is to take that risk and jump out of that boat, hoping to find something else, something new. (more…)
The Convenience of Technology at lastminute.com.au
October 26, 2009I am really satisfied how I solved my dilemma in choosing the airline for my travel especially in looking for sales fares, packages and cheap flights. You can have last minute travel accommodations, arrangements, itinerary, and transportation with just a click of the mouse. There is a website you can visit to book last minute flights. You can even compare deals from all airlines for domestic flights within Australia, flights to Africa, Asia, Central, America, Europe, Middle East, North America, Pacific, South America, and to the Caribbean. It also provides the information about Qantas domestic and international flights especially when I am looking for the airfare deals available. It is definitely an easy way of looking for the information I needed like information about Qantas, Jetstar Airways, Virgin Blue flights and Singapore Airlines. Online you can find a directory wherein one can see the departure, destination, travel date, date of booking, class and airfare of domestic flights of Qantas, Regional Express, and Virgin Blue flights. Plus, it gives information on the top 5 global destinations and most popular international cities. You can also stay updated on the latest offers and discount fares by subscribing to this website’s weekly newsletter. (more…)
The Art of Packing Light
October 18, 2009
All of us have experienced in one way another, what it feels to forget something important. A forgotten plane ticket for overseas travel costs so much hassle that it often ruins the mood of the trip. However, in our attempt not to miss anything, we swing to the other side of the spectrum: bringing almost everything. Before we know it, we find ourselves with so much luggage it seems as though we’re relocating rather than having a short trip. (more…)
