My way of expressing emotions has always been through writing and photography. Water and nature have always been my comfort zone. Once I dreamt of showing the world what my eyes see. Armed with a digicam and my laptop, now I can!

The Amburayan River

May 5, 2008

Just as I have promised you, I will give you more information on the things I’ve listed in my last post. Today we talk about the fabled Amburayan River which separates several towns in Ilocos and La Union. The river is more famous to the Ilocanos and Igorots because of the story “Biag ni Lam-ang”.

HOW TO GET THERE:

Again, from Manila you ride a bus going to Kapangan, Benguet. This will go straight to the town proper where you can get a jeepney ride to the river. This trip has a lot of rough and dusty roads so be prepared!

WHERE TO STAY:

You can get a hotel room at Kapangan. There are no facilities near the river so its best that you checkin first to clean up and put your things down. You need to remember however, that transportation in the area leaves early in the morning so make sure to arrange a jeepney to pick you up from the river.

OTHER PLACES IN KAPANGAN YOU CAN VISIT:

  • Camp Utopia
  • Camp  Shangri-la
  • Daraw  Ancient Ruins of Civilization
  • Caliwaga Cave
  • Tinongchol Burial Cave
  • Dakiwagan Mountain
  • Balakbak Rice Terraces
  • Gaswiling Mountain top view
  • Minehaha Waterfalls

I already put your link in this post

I make it a point to put all link exchanges in one post because if I change the layout it won’t carry the widgets.

Please put my link too

Thank you

I have not done any camping since I arrived in the Philippines. But this blog post makes me want to give it a try. I better start walking everyday to be in shape.

I’m actually preparing to tour the area myself, so I’m gathering information that can help all of us. :)
