A FEW THINGS ABOUT SEO AND CAPTIVATING CAPIZ

September 15, 2008

Have you heard about the newest SEO contest from Blueken and Kyubs.com? Well, its about Captivating Capiz and I’m definitely joining. Well, fact is, I am not a SEO expert, nor am I a programmer. As a matter of fact, I am a Social Science major who’s into learning new things which sometimes bring me headaches.

Anyway, more about captivating Capiz and why I’m joining. Working as an employee for a company for almost three years made me miss out on a lot of things. When I was younger I kept telling my mom that I will never work inside an office and yet I ate my words. Thankfully, fate has planned something else for me and after a couple of life changing events here I am exploring the wonderful world of the internet. Captivating Capiz is my first attempt at SEO, and it will definitely not be my last.

Today we leave Cordillera and its numerous mountains to explore the Western Visayas region – the area dubbed as the Seafood Capital of the Philippines – the province of Capiz. Aside from its mother-of-pearl shells, locally called Capiz shells, which are used for decoration, windows, doors and trays, captivating Capiz is also known for the myth of Aswang, the most feared supernatural creatures in Filipino folklore, and barang, a ritual that gives one the power to inflict pain on an enemy.

If you are planning to visit Capiz, it is best that you bring a mat of antihistamine – this is the best medication for allergies – because you will surely have a grand time eating seafood and you wouldn’t want allergies preventing you from enjoying the wonderful food served to visitors in captivating Capiz.

Whether you are visiting for the history and culture or you are in search of a way to commune with nature, captivating Capiz has something to offer you. Visit the birthplace of former President Manuel Roxas in Roxas City or the Moro Towers which were built in 1814 to repel the invading Moros and Portuguese colonizers. Go for a walk on the shores of Olutayan island to enjoy the crystal clear waters. You can even go for a dive to enjoy the multi-colored fishes thirty feet below.

In captivating Capiz you can also go for an adventure at one of the caves, the most famous of which is the Quipot Cave, located 9 kilometers away from the town proper. If you are looking for wild fauna, then this is the perfect destination. Inside the cave you will see many chambers which have openings which lead to the Quipot Hilton – a chamber as big as a hotel ballroom. You can also go to Pilar Cave which is 1.5 kilometers away from the town proper or explore the Balisong Cave where Filipino revolutionaries hid to escape the Spaniards chasing them. On the other side of the mountain where Balisong Cave is located you will find beautiful flora – orchids hanging from the cliffs which blossom during the summer.

If you are coming from Manila, travel time to Capiz is 45 minutes by plane and 16 hours by boat. From Iloilo, you can reach the capital, Roxas City in 2 hours if you take a bus.

Sir Peter Allan actually has a blog which gives the latest events in the province. You can visit his site at http://capiz.i.ph/.

For those of you who do not know: Capiz has its own hymn. Check out this video:

Here’s what you can expect of your trip to Capiz

Your mention of Aswang reminds of a made up conversation between a Filipino from Capiz and an American which goes something like this:
AMERICAN: In my country, we have airplanes that can fly without human pilots.
FILIPINO: That’s nothing. In my country, we have humans who can fly without airplanes.
Kidding aside, this SEO contest looks exciting. Your article makes me dream of visiting Capiz one of these days… All the best to your blogging and academic career kapatid! :)
