My way of expressing emotions has always been through writing and photography. Water and nature have always been my comfort zone. Once I dreamt of showing the world what my eyes see. Armed with a digicam and my laptop, now I can!

The World in Crisis: Will the economic bubble affect bloggers?

Standing Guard Over the Fallen Giant

Despite the fact that we here on the blogosphere are busy marketing our sites for the captivating Capiz contest, the world is at a standstill after the investment giant, Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy last monday. Wall Street is currently at panic mode as many economists are forecasting of contagion which can drag down other firms and send stocks swirling downward such as what happened in the Great Depression. But Lehman Brothers isn’t the only cause of concern for global citizens. After the publication of the possible filing for bankruptcy by the American International Group, one of the top insurers in the world, the US government has used taxpayer’s money to offer bailout to AIG - a testament that the Keynesian economics is currently at work.

If you’ve watched the Commanding Heights which is featuring the battle between two schools of though - the Keynesian and the laissez faire - you’re probably asking - is it time to switch to laissez faire again? My answer is possibly. A friend told me earlier today - Marx was right, money has no purpose except exchange. By purchasing capital goods you can have proof of the income you are making but with money in the bank, all you have is paper, and in a few years, you will probably lose them too. Is it possible for our economy to go back to “primitive” subsistence economy?

After a few generations/evolutions/twist of fate, yes, we might go back to the past when things were so much simpler. What does this mean for us, captivating Capiz bloggers? Is there any reason for concern?

Truth is - there is. Because the internet is powered by giant corporations which rely stocks to generate income which is used to develop new software and internet technology. With lesser people investing, there’s a big chance that these companies will stop R&D in the internet industry. There’s an even bigger chan ce that the these big companies will stop advertising altogether.

There is a cause for concern, but there’s no need to panic, but we need to up on our toes. Save as much as you can, and despite your desire to win captivating Capiz contest, it simply isn’t the most pressing issue today.
