A Family Affair
January 2, 2009

It’s the second day of the year and life is back to normal.. well, almost. I’ve moved to a new house, and I’m starting to work again. I guess going on vacation brought a lot of good so now, I’m all set for new challenges.
I have taken a lot of pictures during the vacation including this one I have included in this post. This is my daughter staring wide at the camera wondering what her mama is up to.
Christmas was quiet, peaceful and fun especially since I got to be with my cousins whom I haven’t seen for more than 5 years already. We have all grown up, some of us already had kids, but when we got together, we were like kids again. We teased each other like old times, sang like there’s no tomorrow and enjoyed the great feast served by our grandmother whom we call as “mamang”. Our children exchanged gifts (in a time of crisis, gifts are bought for kids seven years and below, that’s the family motto), and everyone slept with the smile on their lips. We slept at the old house, along with mosquitos, cats and dogs, but we didn’t care.
It was almost time for New Year but my cousins decided they wanted to go to Baguio for a visit, and so they did, at the wrong time. Traffic jam in Baguio last December 28 was a thing for the books as motorists waited hours without end for traffic to ease up. Thanks to numerous conventions, there was no respite for residents. Only President Arroyo escaped the traffic jam, but barely.
So that’s how my vacation went. For my next posts, I will be tackling about the Filipino customs and traditions and different places you can visit. I hope you stick with me, happy new year to all!
