My way of expressing emotions has always been through writing and photography. Water and nature have always been my comfort zone. Once I dreamt of showing the world what my eyes see. Armed with a digicam and my laptop, now I can!

Spontaniety and Santa Monica

November 1, 2009

There’s nothing better than having the opportunity to relax, and let go from the world and its stresses. As I lie down and sleep at night, sometimes I can’t seem to push out what thing I have to do tomorrow. I contemplate on my life and feel like a machine. Am I programmed to do this routine till the day I die? Karl Marx said it best when he said that we no longer work to live but now, we live to work. We are all in the same boat here and its drifting in that particular way. The only way to move away from it is to take that risk and jump out of that boat, hoping to find something else, something new.

I stumbled upon a site offering Santa Monica Beach Accommodations on the internet and it got me thinking that this could just be what I needed - a vacation. To all those workaholics out there, sometimes you need a break. You got to live a little. I’ve never been to Santa Monica nor did I ever have any long term plan of visiting it. This idea was just purely spontaneous, which is quite surprising.

I needed my escape badly. Every bone in my body was aching for me to go somewhere, anywhere but here. And at that time, I wanted to go to Santa Monica. I don’t have a job that provides the luxury of paid vacation holidays or enough money for luxurious holidays for that matter. So I knew that going to Santa Monica would be like going to a strip bar. Enjoy it now and regret it the next day.

Some  Santa Monica Beach Hotel where quite good, others just too far away from my price range. But I knew that this is a spontaneous thing so I figured what the hell. Just book them. But the thing is I just can’t book it up yet. Apart from never going to Santa Monica, I actually never even went to California! Okay so I suppose I should do a little bit more research on California.

Thank God for the internet. And because of that I just feel that I have to go to Santa Monica sooner. I can imagine myself biking, surfing, and swimming there in the day and at the same time having Margaritas at the outdoor bars at night while listening to some jazzy tunes. I also needed to use my summer floral shirt that’s been gathering dust in the attic.

I’m all prepared for this trip to Beach Hotel Santa Monica. But I believe that spontaneity can wait until after I get my next pay check.
